Glow-worm are making big noises about their new hybrid system called Clearly Hybrid. This system combines an Ultracom boiler with an Envirosorb 5 heat pump which automatically selects the most appropriate technology (traditional boiler or low carbon heat pump) to produce cost effective hot water and heating. The heat pump is MCS accredited and therefore is eligible for the Renewable Heat Incentive which will become big business next year.

On the face of it looks like this system could be the answer to the misconcepetion that traditional air to water heat pumps can simply replace a boiler, where in most cases they can't without further reaching system changes.

What are your thoughts? Has anyone installed one of these or a similar system? or is Glow-worm simply good at marketing!!
