New Gas Boiler Installation in London

Out of the three companies that contacted me through this website, Ocean Plumbers is the only one that has not been put off by the fact that it had been a tenant and not a landlord to contact them. Nevertheless I did manage to get another two companies to have a look at the property. I was really impressed with the thoroughness of Ocean Plumbers' inspection of the property. This has played an important role in deciding who would do the job, together with a comparison of the quotes provided by the three companies. Despite not being the cheapest, the quote provided by Ocean Plumbers seemed to be the most realistic of the three. Most of the work has done pretty swiftly, while it has taken significantly longer to finish the bits and pieces. "Delivery" has not matched completely my expectations:
- I was told that the old boiler's flue did not comply with regulations but the new flue looks exactly the same;
- The condensate discharge pipe of the new combi boiler has not been insulated, potentially exposing it to the risk of freezing (which would make the boiler stop working);
- An old skirting board was broken and patched up, without offering a replacement (no reply to my email raising the issue);
- A wireless thermostat was not included in the original quote and was later suggested, then presented as something we ought to have to prevent the boiler from overheating. According to the manufacturer, instead, this was not the case.
- When it turned out that the wireless thermostat would occasionally not work, probably as a consequence of interference, Ocean Plumber has been totally unhelpful, stating: "As we do not manufacture the product our warranty only covers the workmanship so there is nothing we can do as a company without charging for it." It must be noted that I had asked for a wired thermostat and according to an engineer sent by the manufacturer of the thermostat, Ocean Plumber would have easily used the wires of the old thermostat, saving on installation costs (labour cost was Ocean Plumber's objection to my proposal of a wired thermostat).
