DY14 - I am trying to get some advice and quotations for the installation of a new energy efficient central heating system.
I moved into my home in June, the house has been empty for a year or two and including the very harsh winter of 2010.
The original 1970’s oil fired system is beyond repair with multiple leaks in the system, rotten radiators, burst or missing pipes etc…
The Oil Tank does however seem to remain serviceable but that is probably the only part of the installation that could be re-used.
I am unlikely to be able to proceed with installation until late spring / Summer 2012, but I would like to get a few quotes so I can make a decision in the New Year.
To give you some idea of scale;
The Property is a 4 bed detached (with an intention to become 5 bed) It will be an 18 (19) Radiator system and require a dual coil indirect + direct electric back up 180litre vented cylinder. (The cylinder is to go in a different room to the existing cylinder). The System should be designed to allow for connection to a Solid Fuel Rayburn in the future in tandem with the oil boiler, but this won’t happen for a while yet.
I would like a Grant Vortex 26/36 utility condensing oil boiler. To be positioned in the garage. I estimate the heating demand to be c22 – 24Kw without accounting for the demand from the hotwater Cylinder.
