Get £400 Off a New Boiler

8th Sep 2011

When you’re replacing an old boiler you may want to look around for a company which is running a boiler scrappage scheme. If you trade in your old boiler with one of these suppliers, you could be rewarded with up to £400 off the price of your new boiler.

The government’s ‘Boiler Scrappage Scheme’ was first introduced back in late 2009 and 2010. Officially, it was called the ‘Greener Boiler Initiative’ and was designed to encourage homeowners to replace their G rated, energy wasting boilers with new, energy efficient versions. The newer A rated boilers waste less fuel and are therefore both cheaper to run and produce fewer carbon emissions. Under the scheme, the government would give homeowners a voucher for £400 towards the cost of their new boiler.

In addition, over the years several of the largest boiler manufacturers such as British Gas and Npower have run their own boiler scrappage schemes, rewarding customers with a discount of between £200 – £400 if they traded their old boiler in for recycling at the same time.

The government’s Greener Boiler Initiative or ‘Scrappage Scheme’ is no longer available and brands such as Npower and British Gas only run their offers and promotions for limited periods.

The best way to save money on the cost of your new boiler is to shop around. You should always get a minimum of 3 quotes before deciding who is going to install your boiler so you can compare prices and professional advice.
