PROS: Quotation was conducted quickly and the initial communication was really helpful and friendly. As part of the quote they included an upgraded boiler warranty of 7 years, which was a great selling point. The initial work was conducted on time.

CONS: Additional costs incurred without warning, rude interactions with some staff and the boiler wasn't actually checked for operation before they left. It was left with hot water but no central heating because a valve in the system hadn't been opened so I had to call them out again.

These issues arose because the electrics of my existing boiler didn't match the new boiler, which wasn't identified until the work was underway. This resulted in an extra engineer having to come out, who turned up around 3 hours late because he had decided to book in other work after he'd told me when he was coming. He was quite surly and barely spoke whilst he completed the install. He was messy and left all sorts of rubbish from his work behind him. When he left saying "You've got hot water so it must be working". Only later did I realise the central heating wasn't working. Another (really nice) engineer came out quickly and identified that a valve had been left shut during the install.

When I received the bill there was around £600 more on it than the quotation. When I queried this I was told it was because of the electrics amendment and the decision by the engineer to fit a new thermostat programmer. I was not told at any point during the installation that the work being done was out of the ordinary. When I challenged the extra cost I received a £150 discount but was still forced to pay the remaining extra costs. When I discussed that (calmly and respectfully) with the owner he became rude and unhelpful and said he might as well just come and remove what they'd installed and I could incur the cost of another electrician. Not the service I would expect when I'm spending thousands of pounds with them. There was also no hint of apology when it was discovered that they'd left the boiler without checking that it was working.

All in all, the work was done, the boiler works and there's a good warranty on it. However, the service I received from some of the members of the team would make me avoid them in the future.

However, the invoice received was more than expected for the work carried out.

Great company to deal with. Person who came out to give quote was well informed and experienced fitter so was able to answer all my questions. Very competitive price with detailed breakdown of the job. Fitter was professional,efficient and friendly and I would recommend this company to anyone.

The man and boy on site seemed to struggle with all parts of the job, they took a great deal of time draining down the system. They had great difficulty connecting pipework to radiators. A day was spent attempting to re-fill system. ( The 15mm cold feed pipe had become choked) This had been cleared on a previous occasion in 30 mins by a competent engineer. One radiator was left loosely connected resulting in a soaked carpet, underlay etc. The flow and return pipework at boiler was crossed and had to be re-formed and fitted correctly the following day. The unbelievable part was the "Additional Work" charge (clearing the choked pipe) of 11hours at £25 per hour and 11hours at£80 per hour= £1,150. I have been grossly overcharged here and must seek further advice.
