Stonehenge in Wiltshire is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has been dated from around 3000 BC to 2000 BC.
Although declared ‘dead’ in the 19th century, Cornish still survives as an official minority language with increasing numbers of bilingual speakers, Cornish language books and films and even a Cornish speaking creche opening in 2010.

Cary Grant, Hollywood actor, was born in 1904 in Bristol. His real name was Archibald Leach and his first theatre role was at The Bristol Hippodrome.
Cheltenham is a spa town because of a flock of pigeons who kept gathering around a specific spot at the edge of the town. When the locals looked into the area it was found they were attracted by a mineral spring. Today, the pigeons are honoured by being included in the town’s crest.
Bath is the only UK city to have been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Famous face: Sir Walter Raleigh, pioneering explorer, was born in Devon around 1554.
