The Association of British Insurers has shed further light on the extent of boiler problems which occurred as a result of December’s freezing weather.

According to the Association, around 103,000 cases of burst pipes were reported, which resulted in heating and plumbing problems across the UK.

The statistics show a 35 per cent rise in claims compared to the whole of last winter. The Association also noted that this has resulted in the highest total bill ever recorded for a period of freezing weather in the UK.
