One of Ireland’s leading renewable energy firms has been awarded a contract to install a 400kw biomass boiler to a leisure centre in Scotland.

Based in County Down, Alternative Heat – a leading designer and MCS accredited installer of renewable energy systems for both the commercial and domestic sector – has secured a major new contract worth £540,000, thanks in part to a £87,000 investment to boost sales

Aside from wood fuelled heating systems, the company’s other green heating products include heat pumps and solar thermal panels.

Alternative Heat’s managing director, Connel McMullan said the investment would help them to develop their market and brand presence in Great Britain, which they would do by focusing on both the public sector and commercial markets.

“This Scottish contract was one of many significant wins for the company as we focus on growing our business across domestic and commercial markets in Great Britain.”

The Loch Aber leisure centre in Fort William, Scotland is one of the largest leisure facilities in the Highlands.
