Worcester Bosch Recognised for Commitment to Staff Training

25th Apr 2014

One of the country’s top central heating companies is celebrating after scooping a top award for their commitment to staff training and apprenticeships.

The Worcester Bosch Group has received a Champions for Apprentices' training award at Birmingham Metropolitan College’s Employer STAR Awards this month. The event recognises a wide range of businesses in the area and celebrates the contribution and commitment employers have made when it comes to training their workforces.

Speaking about their annual Employer STAR Awards, Corrie Harris, executive director for employer services at Birmingham Metropolitan College, said effective professional development training was fantastic for businesses and helped to boost skills in the local economy.

The Worcester Bosch Group has chosen Birmingham Metropolitan College to train their apprentices due to the high standards of teaching and learning and the college’s experienced and knowledgeable staff.

Commenting on the recognition, Allan Ovington, Worcester Bosch’s regional service manager said: “It was wonderful to be recognised, as an organisation, at this awards ceremony because the importance of work-based training to the local economy and national skills agenda is vital in the current climate.”

With over 1,600 employees, Worcester Bosch is one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of heating and hot water systems. One of the most well known and popular boiler brands on the market, they manufacture high quality and efficient gas boilers. With headquarters in Worcester and manufacturing plants in Derbyshire, Worcester Bosch has an established network of over 300 qualified Gas Safe Registered heating engineers to install their boilers.

Established ten years ago, the apprenticeship programme is committed to recruiting and training exceptional customer focused engineers. More than 80% of employees recruited under their apprenticeship scheme still work for the Worcester Bosch Group today.
