Worcester launches new Wave Smart Thermostat

10th Sep 2014

Worcester Bosch, the leading maufacturer of heating and hot water appliances has launched a new smart thermostat which is compatible with its award-winning Greenstar range of gas and oil fired central heating boilers.

The Wave Smart Thermostat is a new addition to their extensive portfolio of programmable smart heating controls, providing control of heating and hot water via a tablet or smartphone with the Wave app. All you need is a wireless internet connection and you can manage you energy remotely from home, at the office or if you’re on holiday – in fact from anywhere in the world.

Comprising of a stylish black glass panel which you fix onto the wall, the Wave Smart Thermostat is easy to install and operate and incorporates a programmable control and a room thermostat in one unit. The Wave app also provides useful information for energy consumers about their hot water and heating consumption to help them manage their bills. At a glance, homeowners can check the current temperature of their home and see if their heating is operating efficiently.

What sets the Wave Smart Thermostat aside from similar smart heating controls currently available is its load compensation feature. To ensure the most efficient use of fuel possible, Wave takes into account the room temperature to fire the boiler at the necessary level. That way peak efficiency is maintained. As Martyn Bridges, director of marketing and technical support at Worcester Bosch explains:

“The Wave really is smart in that it is the only thermostat of its type that can adjust the flow temperature of the boiler to the minimum level required to enhance condensing operation yet still maintain the required room temperature level.”

But that’s not all. Use the weather compensation feature, which uses your home’s postcode to establish local weather conditions, and you should achieve even greater efficiency. It all adds up to maximum energy efficiency which in turn leads to a reduction in energy bills.

Describing the Wave as an “exciting new addition” to their product portfolio, Bridges added:

“The market for smart controllers has grown substantially over the last 12 months and we spotted the opportunity to launch our own innovative solution, utilising half a century’s experience in the heating and hot water sector.”

By embracing innovative technology, smart heating controls like the Wave offer consumers much greater control of their heating and hot water. By managing their energy more efficiently, householders will benefit from cheaper heating bills. Read more about clever heating technology and the most popular smart thermostats on the market.
