2020 – A Year to Remember

I think we can all agree that 2020 has been a year unlike anything we’ve witnessed before. With this in mind, we’ve spent some time reflecting on the past 12 months and thought we’d share our experience and highlight some of the achievements and improvements Boiler Guide has made during 2020.


A new beginning

We kicked off 2020 full of excitement with the announcement that we were rebranding our business as Boiler Guide. We had been Holmes Media for over 10 years, but following a very successful 2019, the decision to focus solely on the heating side of the business was an easy one.

In 2019, Boiler Guide experienced record growth with a 75% increase in enquiries (thanks to over three million website visits.) These enquiries resulted in the installation of over 26,000 new boilers and we were now working with over 5000 Gas Safe registered engineers.

Little did we know what 2020 had in store…

Adapting to the ‘New Normal’

We were quick to react to the new challenges we were all facing and set the entire Boiler Guide team up with everything they needed to perform their roles at home. That foresight, combined with the commitment, passion and expertise of our team allowed us to continue to grow and move forward in what has been a difficult year.

Being there for Gas Safe engineers

We did not let up during the pandemic, and unlike a lot of our competitors, we remained open throughout both nationwide lockdowns. Something we’re really proud to have achieved this year.

With people unable to go about their lives as usual, it became clear that customer habits were changing and with it, an increase in online activity. We’ve worked incredibly hard to strengthen our presence online and our knowledge and experience has resulted in a significant boost in website traffic.

By remaining open we’ve helped small businesses to survive and even thrive in what has been a difficult year. The results speak for themselves. We generated 44% more new boiler enquiries than we did in 2019, work that was snapped up by companies of all sizes across the UK.

We always welcome feedback from our customers and we were especially glad to hear from Smith Domestic Gas who got in touch to express their appreciation for the amount of work we’ve been able to provide all year round.

Moving forward together

Boiler Guide is much more than a lead generation company. We have a skilled and dedicated development team who are constantly working hard to improve the experience for the installers we work with. We have just launched a brand new Installer Dashboard, making things quicker and easier for our customers to get more work, whether they’re at home, in the office or in the van.

What’s next?

2021 is set to be another exciting year for us as a company and the installers we work with. We’ll continue to break records on generating enquiries and new job opportunities. We’ll also be launching a brand new App and other handy tools for installers, all of which will be revealed in the new year.
