Worcester 2000
Carbon Monoxide Awareness Week is part of the 'CO Be Alarmed' campaign run by Energy UK which seeks to make people more aware of the dangers of carbon monoxide (CO).

This year, CO Awareness Week runs between 18-24 November 2019 and is being coordinated by members of the All-Party Parliamentary Carbon Monoxide Group, a forum of parliamentarians who work to find ways of tackling CO poisoning.

During CO Awareness Week, each day will have its own theme to help people in various circumstances stay safe:

  • Renters
  • Students
  • Family and pregnant women
  • People in vulnerable circumstances
  • Holidays
  • Pets

Keep your customers safe

CO poisoning causes around 30 people each year to die and a further 4,000 are treated in hospital for symptoms. As gas and oil boilers emit this lethal gas, heating engineers have a vital role to play in informing customers about Carbon Monoxide Safety.
First and foremost ensuring that a CO alarm has been installed close to the boiler will detect any leaks. Secondly, reminding your customers of the importance of an annual service will allow you as the heating engineer to ensure the safe running of the boiler on a regular basis.

You can show your support for Carbon Monoxide Awareness Week by joining the conversation on social media using the hashtags #COAwarenessWeek and
#COAwarenessWeek19.
