Reviews
We have had the Alpha CD50 for 11 years, we have never had a major problem with the boiler. We have had a service contract with British Gas for the past 6 years but have arranged an annual general service each year for the past 10 years,the only recent concern is the pressure indictor needle is always in the red when boiler is on for long periods. Otherwise after 11 years we have a given the boiler a 4 star rating and we are considering renewing with the same style of boiler in the near future.
Quite simply this boiler has been terrible. The boiler was installed new in a brand new house and after years of constant breakdowns it has finally been condemned as uneconomical to repair after 8 years. Not only has the boiler been breaking down on an annual basis but the response time from engineers, despite the fact that we maintained an annual repair contract, has always been poor with us having to chase whilst we are left freezing. Alpha use Homeserve for their engineer booking and the communication between Alpha and Homeserve was always poor too. Everything, poor. Never again.
Boiler is three years old and just out of waranty. Guess what circuit board has just blown. Why, on a 3 year olf boiler? Cheap parts me thinks. While i'm on my ancient oil boiler which the CD50 replaced, was better.
